Attend the 10th Annual Livermore Valley Barrel Tasting Weekend!

While many California wine destinations (and just cool California towns in general) are on my radar. I admit, Livermore Valley was not a spot I knew much about nor was it much on my mind until last year. I also thought Livermore was in Sacramento County. Turns out it’s Alameda County which makes it whistling distance to the San Francisco Bay Area.

Known for its wine making and several regions throughout Alameda County, this March will mark the 10th annual Barrel Tasting Weekend in Livermore Valley wine country. During the weekend of March 10th, wine enthusiasts of all experience levels with a fun “snapshot” of how wine evolves–from grape to glass. More than a dozen varietals, including the rare Primitivo and Alicante Bouschet as well as the ever-popular Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon, will be presented for tasting across Livermore Valley.

Those attending with special wristbands and official glasses will receive samples at each participating winery, brewery and distillery. Many locations will feature live music, arts and crafts vendors, discounts galore on bottle purchases and food available for purchase throughout the day.

1st Annual Painted Barrel Trail & Raffle

New this year to the Barrel Tasting include a Painted Barrel Trail and Raffle. The trail will entail 15 wineries teaming up with local artists, scout troops and schools to crate Livermore Valley’s very first Painted Barrel Trail. Each participating winery will have a full-sized wine barrel out front of its shop beginning February 1st.

For the 6 weekends leading up to the weekend, guests and visitors to Livermore Valley can sample wines while admiring these works of art!

You will also be able to purchase raffle tickets for a chance to win the barrel to take home….and a case of wine. Win-win, right?

Let’s do Brunch

Also new this year will be two brunches each day of the festival, four in total. Local wineries will partner with local restaurants and caterers to host delicious, gourmet brunches on both Saturday and Sunday. On the winery grounds, no less! What could be more picturesque on a weekend morning?
