Be Part of Ariel’s World Once Again!

When I got an invite to a screening of Disney’s The Little Mermaid, I admit….I was too excited & quick to simply hit REPLY and YES to fully read the email. I have loved this animated classic since I was around 5. One of my earliest memories is being at a restaurant with a group of my parents friends, with one of the ladies saying to me, “Why haven’t you seen The Little Mermaid?!” & it was, because, frankly, I didn’t want to. I was one of those unpredictable kiddos who may love a big, dark movie theatre one day, & not the next.

Well, apparently when The Little Mermaid was in theatres, I did not like them that week! Therefore, never seeing it on the big screen, & when it hit VHS, it became one of my favorites. For my 5th birthday party at Chuck E Cheeses, I was decked out in an Ariel dress & my cake featured her & Prince Eric. I still have one of the cake toppers & consider it one of my most cherished things from my childhood.

For a special limited time, The Little Mermaid is returning for a “Second Screening” event; what they are doing is inviting the audience to interact & play along via app to a special game you can download on your iPad. I brought my good friends, sisters Nikki & Eva, along with me, but, alas, we do not yet own iPads. Which actually made the game even more humorous & fun for us as we watched the iPads around us hard at work while the kids & parents alike guessed trivia such as Ariel’s age, Sebastian’s first name & how many points are on King Triton’s crown. A highlight for Nikki & me were the parents, mostly father’s baritones voices, belting out Part of your World. Eva, who had to join us late, seemed very amused at everyone tapping their device to pop out bubbles! πŸ˜‰

So, as you can see, iPad or not, everyone can truly enjoy The Little Mermaid back in theatres. The words to each song were on the screen so you can sing along & when you are prompted to “Cheer!” or yell out something fun, everyone can. If you’re near one of the participating theatres, I hope you go have some fun at The Little Mermaid!

And, on October 1, 2013, fans can also take home the film that gave voice to a whole generation as The Little Mermaid splashes its way into homes for the first time ever on Blu-ray 3Dβ„’, Blurayβ„’, Digital Copy and High Definition Digital formats!

I have more news as far as classic films in theatres, too–lets just say I will soon be reporting back from the yellow brick road, in IMax πŸ˜‰

(*Disclosure: I was invited to this screening of The Little Mermaid, & we all know I love this movie.)

When my son was still in his toddler bed, I had a medley of songs to sing him to bed. And one of my favorites was “Part of Your World”, of course! He would listen so intently with wonder…. <3 Thanks for the stroll down memory lane. πŸ™‚

OHHHH I’M SO JEALOUS!! I saw it on the big screen in the 80s as a little girl. I own the original VHS in the big white plastic case. I know every word to every song and can play them on the piano. And I am counting down the days until I can buy this new version to watch with my daughter!!!
