Head to The Sunset Strip Music Festival!

You know me, I love concerts. I also really love music festivals like FYF & the fast approaching, Sunset Strip Music Festival, which I am SO excited to say I will be at for Press purposes for Along Comes Mary! 🙂

I last attended SSMF in 2010 when I heard The Smashing Pumpkins would be there. They’re easily one of my favorite bands & having gotten into Siamese Dream & Mellon Collie post their 1999 break up, you could say I was a bit of a fanatic & plotted a way to get to their “Reunion” residency tour in San Francisco at the legendary Fillmore in 2007….July 24, ’07, was one of the best shows EVER as Billy Corgan & company rocked the stage for over 3 hours, till 1am!

Fast forward to 2010….The only remaining Pumpkin might be Billy, but, whatever he’s doing, he knows how to put on one of the best concerts in rock. So, of course, I had to venture out to The Sunset Strip in the heat, by myself, & make my way much too deep into the mosh pit, to see them once again! Do I even need to say how amazing they were?!

For the 7th annual SSMF, they will once again return for not just one day, but 2 days of rock as the strip is closed down & all clubs are in on the fun!

The Roxy and Whisky A Go-Go will feature a variety of artists over the two-day festival from The Last International, Break Science and FMLYBAND at The Roxy to LA Guns, Unwritten Law, Onyx and Cattle Decapitation at Whisky A Go-Go, to name just a few. Bands will fill the venues each night as concertgoers make their way up and down The Strip on September 20 and 21. SSMF ticketed attendees can watch the performances in the venues throughout the day and into the night and after the street fest closes until 2:00 a.m. Entrance is first-come, first-served.

The venue shows are in addition to the street festival, which features outdoor stages and includes Jane’s Addiction, Empire Of The Sun, Failure, Destructo, Cold War Kids, Mayer Hawthorne, ††† (Crosses), Iration, Minus the Bear, The Birds of Satan, Big Data, Nightmare and the Cat, We Came as Romans, Beware of Darkness, Tove Lo, Big Freedia, Nostalghia, Fenech-Soler, and Say Say.

The festival kicks off on Friday, September 19 at the House of Blues Sunset Strip with Jane’s Addiction being honored with the “Elmer Valentine Award.” This award celebrates the music and icons that have made an impact on the legacy of The Strip.

The two-day street festival will include three outdoor stages, interactive experiences, food, beverage and much more, transforming The Sunset Strip into the ultimate concert destination. Sunset Strip Music Festival Street Fest will take place on Sunset Blvd. between Doheny Drive and San Vicente Boulevard from 2-11:00 p.m. on Saturday and 2-10 p.m. on Sunday.

Sunset Boulevard will be closed to vehicular traffic between Doheny Drive and San Vicente Boulevard from Saturday, September 20, 2014 at 3 a.m. until Monday, September 22, 2014 at 6 a.m.

I’m so excited for Jane’s Addiction, Nightmare and the Cat & Cold War Kids. For info & tickets, which start under $50, check out the web-site here! xo

OMG – scratch that comment. Wrong band. I was thinking Alice and chains – wow long week. Say hi to Dave for me! He is a cool guy.
