Never be Bored this Summer!

With Memorial Day Weekend here, that means one thing: SUMMER is just around the corner. Theres so many awesome events & things to do around SoCal coming up…I thought I would make up a list in-case you’re looking for something FUN to do in the coming months 😉

Make Music Pasadena is June 1st. This is a citywide free event in one of my hometowns, Rose Bowl famed city, Pasadena. Throughout the city, there will be stages of great new music as well as recognizable bands, like radio favorites, Youngblood Hawke. After attending for my 1st time last year, I do recommend planning out where you would like to be & which bands you hope to check out. It can be a bit confusing to just show up. The web-site offers an extensive schedule to plan out your day!

The Hollywood Fringe Festival kicks off with previews June 6th & I am thrilled to say that I will be involved with the largest celebration of the performing arts in LA. The Fringe literally takes over the city for a month putting on shows everywhere that will easily move onto larger audiences & even NYC. Whether you’re a play junkie like myself or a newbie, this is a wonderful opportunity to see whats new & fresh in theatre.

Jazz at LACMA is a wonderful summer concert series that is great for a date night, families, with the girls, or even on your own to mingle. As you may know from this blog, I absolutely love this museum & this is another great, free way to get out (Psst, & their parking lots are free after 7!)

Shakespere by the Sea is another perfect option to get the kids out, go on a date or hang with friends while watching a top-notch Shakes play under the stars & not only by the sea, but also in some parks, too. The locations range from Laguna Beach to Altadena, so no one in SoCal is left out. (Psst, this is another free event, too!)

Long Beach’s Movies on the Beach is something I had great fun at with friends last year. From The Lorax to When Harry met Sally, I love that they keep the movies varied up for everyone…my favorite that they show every year is, of course, The Wizard of Oz…maybe I will take Hammond 😉

FYF Fest. Ok, so this is a 2 day rock festival that will set you back some! But, I am a huge fan of 80’s shoe gazer band, My Bloody Valentine, who hardly ever play in the states & they’re headlining on Sunday(!!!). I will be there Saturday, too, for The Yeah Yeah Yeahs & loads more of great bands. FYF takes place in LA’s State Historic Park, have you ever been there? I have not. So, I cannot wait for this adventure all the way around 🙂

Out door plays and movies are great. We have a few places around here that do shows like that.
