See’s Candies Comes to South Pasadena & A “Sweet” Giveaway Ends 6/2! #SeesAtFairOaks

Driving down Fair Oaks Avenue, it is pretty easy to be reminded why Pasadena could easily be one of the best cities in Los Angeles. The old, brick buildings that are home to delicious restaurants & gorgeous specialty shops on side streets like Union & Holly, the trees that greet you as you drive past their very own Central Park & of course, the famous Colorado Blvd, the street to be on every New Years Day for The Rose Parade.

Fair Oaks is also your gateway to South Pasadena, another secret gem of the city filled with sights to see. The newest? See’s Candy Shop!

Sees1

I was thrilled to be invited to their special preview soiree last evening, hosted by well-known TV Personality, Jill Simonian, who has dedicated her career to showing Moms how to stay posh, fun & continue to enjoy their life while surviving all that comes along when your bundle of joy arrives. Jill is absolutely the sweetest person ever, she made us feel like we were all best friends.

Same goes for the wonderful crew who are behind See’s; I had the pleasure of chatting with Uriel, their District Manager, Leota, who is their kick-butt Regional Manager, Store Manager (& Employee for 25 years!), Stella, Shop Associate, Stephanie & Natalie, See’s Brand Manager, who had so much awesome background about the company.

Sees

From Natalie, I learned just WHY See’s is always better than the rest of chocolate on the market. Since they began back in the 1930’s, the company has only used Challenge Butter & all real ingredients’. The only preservative in a See’s chocolate is one Challenge must use in order to keep their butter fresh long enough. Other than that, it’s all REAL in See’s!
They also do a neat thing you do not hear of much: They age their chocolate. While one may think of this only with fine wines, chocolate can indeed benefit from a similar process, as well.

See’s has also had their fair share of involvement with Hollywood! While all candies are continued to be made a la Lucy & Ethel on a conveyorΒ belt at their headquarters on La Cienega in LA, I Love Lucy producers, as well as Lucille Ball & Vivian Vance themselves visited that very factory for inspiration on the most famous episode of the series. Studios would also have a See’s buggy car deliver their candies to the starlets back in the day when they signed a movie deal πŸ˜‰

Sees3

By the time I left, I had tried so many of my favorites, like Chelsea & Mocha, as well as new favorites like Key Lime Truffle (oh, yeah!!) & their famous Bordeaux. Another bonus? All products are now gluten free!

If you’re in LA, definitely stop by & visit Stella & her See’s team at 464 Fair Oaks Avenue in South Pasadena. Aaand, wherever you are located in the USA, how would you like a $25 gift card to See’s?! Fill out the entry form below by June 2nd! I will choose 1 winner at random via Rafflecopter, & make sure to check out my sweepstakes tab πŸ˜‰ Good luck! xo
