Social Media Monday Kick Off! #SocialMediaMonday

social media tag cloud heart shape

It’s the first Monday of 2016! With that being said, today marks the start of my new series on Along Comes Mary: Social Media Monday. Last year, I began to take on clients in need of some social media assistance, & this year I hope to do much more in tutoring & mentoring businesses, bloggers, anyone looking to learn more about social media & bring their presence online.

My goal is to bring you 1-3 posts each month for Social Media Monday with tips & info on an array of popular online platforms (think Facebook, Instagram, Twitter) to help your journey begin. A lot of people are quick to admit they don’t know as much as they would like about social media, especially when it comes to promoting yourself or a business. I would love to help you learn more about social media, & these posts will serve as an introduction to what I teach.

YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE, BUT WHO AM I?

My first Social Media Marketing position was over 6 years ago when I took on the role of SM Manager for Runaway Productions, a thriving independent film company led by film maker (& my friend), Linda Palmer. Back then, MySpace was still ruling the internet, & I brought our ‘friends’ of MySpace up to over 10,000 in under 3 months. While some think such a task would be tedious, I loved it & knew social media was something to take seriously.

Since then, I have done several other similar jobs & of course, launched Along Comes Mary, in 2012. My blog has a following of nearly 10,000 & is rapidly growing by the week. I have also managed social media for such local SoCal businesses including Faces by Fern & Athena Tile & Stone, as well as mentoring several clients to get their feet wet with managing their own outlets.

STRATEGY AND DIRECTING

The past few months have been extremely rewarding for me as I have joined The Los Angeles Womens Theatre Festival as their Social Media Strategist & was just elected onto the Board of Directors for IFWTWA (International Food, Wine & Travel Writers Association), where I am the Director of Social Media.
