Weekend Getaway: Carmel by the Sea

imageedit_1_5725030552

Want a coastal escape in California not too far from San Francisco, Wine Country, the beach & beautiful drives like over Big Sur? Look no further than Carmel by the Sea. This was the first trip I took with my boyfriend & it was absolutely perfect; we had wonderful hospitality at The Hofsas House as well as walks to the beach & delicious food, all right outside our doorstep. Added bonus? They’re one of the most dog friendly getaways you will find, nearly all hotels will let you bring your 4 legged bestie!

WHAT TO DO:

For a romantic morning, get yourself out of bed to walk to the beach & watch the sun rise. You will be in good company as there’s a great blend of locals & visitors walking the streets. For an aquatic adventure, check out the world-famous Monterey Aquarium then get some shopping in at adorable one of a kind shops like The White Rabbit, World class shops like The Cashmere Company & fun, Willy Wonka like shopping at Cottage of Sweets. You won’t regret it 😉
If its wine you’re in search of, grab a passport to wine taste at 10 awesome wine tasting rooms; a great thing about the passport is, they do not expire & you can visit each winery as you wish; 2 one day, 3 the next, whatever you wish.

While Mike & I didn’t have time our last trip, next time we visit, we’re definitely driving the 17 Mile Drive; a gorgeous, one of a kind, winding road filled with natural beauty & lush landscapes for, you guessed it, 17 miles.

WHERE TO STAY:

Look no further than The Hofsas House. Park your car once & leave it there as you’re smack in the middle of everything you need within town. Each room boasts a fireplace & some have a great kitchenette which is perfect to bring in your own munchies & wine. Each morning, you’ll awake to a great breakfast in the lobby with coffee carafe, trays, fruit & danish to enjoy before you begin your day.

WHERE TO EAT:

The Country Cottage is adorable for breakfast & lunch, while dinner for us was all about The Grill on Ocean; gluten-free options & seriously one of the best cuts of salmon I have had, this was a beautiful 4 star dining experience.

Great post and beautiful photos! We have family that lives in that area and are only about a 4 hour drive away. I haven’t been up there in a while, but it is a great place to go for a romantic or family getaway.
